Prior to starting video-conferencing services, we discussed and agreed to the following:
I will be your psychologist, facilitating weekly check-ins on your overall well-being, particularly supporting your psychological health. I would like us to plan over 12 weeks, with a review every 3 weeks on the direction of the sessions. My goal is to establish a safe and supportive space for you.
All sessions are confidential, meaning that I am not allowed to share what we discuss with anyone outside our sessions. However, there are some exceptions:-if you or someone else is intending to harm yourself or others, when there is reasonable suspicion of abuse, or when presented with a valid court order. There are potential benefits and risks of videoconferencing that differ from in-person sessions. Confidentiality still applies for telepsychology services, and you provide the permission for me to record the session(s) for record-keeping purposes.
We agree to meet physically at the office or via video-conferencing for one hour, with an optional brief 10-minute break scheduled therein.
You need to use a webcam or smartphone during the session. It is important to be in a quiet, private space that is free of distractions (including muting your cell phone or other devices) during the session. It is important to use a secure internet connection rather than public/free Wi-Fi.
It is important to be on time. If you need to cancel or change your tele-appointment, you must notify the psychologist by phone or email at least 24 hours prior.
We need a back-up plan (e.g., phone number where you can be reached) to restart the session or to reschedule it, in the event of technical problems. We need a safety plan that includes at least one emergency contact and the closest ER to your location, in the event of a crisis situation.
You need to confirm that all homework assignments agreed upon are done at the start of each subsequent session, as you are responsible for your full participation in your wellness journey. Please make a pre-payment of via Mpesa to 0717736524 at least 24 hours prior to each session.
